Lost 46 lbs! She is happy to have found a long-term solution to her weight yo-yo!
I’ve been fat since childhood. When I was 12 years old, my waistline was 36 inches. Over the years I have been constantly dieting, exercising and enrolling in various slimming programs. I would lose weight but, I could not keep the weight off. “Laging bumamalik, parang yo-yo”. I thought because I have been fat since I was small, I could never really remain slim.
When I got married and got pregnant, I gained as much as 60lbs up which is at least twice the healthy pregnancy weight gain. I lost the weight in a couple of years. But during my last pregnancy, my weight gain did not stop after I gave birth. I was even heavier after a few months, “mukha pa rin akong buntis”! I was 174 lbs (78kgs).
Fortunately, I came across “The Cohen Program”.
At first I was skeptical. The before-and-after pictures looked too good to be true. I did not think that by just by managing the food I eat, I could lose the weight and keep it off. But since I was desperate for a solution, I tried.
The weight came off very fast! But what’s even better was that I felt in control of myself. Before, when I used to have cravings I felt like food was controlling me. To my pleasant surprise, I was not getting hungry with the Cohen Program. After 5.5 months, I lost 46 lbs (21kg)!
What I also particularly liked about the program was the re-feeding phase. It is the gradual re-introduction of the food I was not allowed to eat during the weight loss program, so my body was able to normalize without the ‘shock’ which I think was the cause of the weight regains in the past. The Cohen program also taught me ways to enjoy the food I’ve always enjoyed without regaining the weight. Now, I have no more fear of my weight swinging like yo-yo.
I would recommend this program to anyone who seriously wants to lose weight and keep it off. But look at this as a lifestyle change and not a fad diet. Once you’ve retrained your body to eat healthily, you will not go back to your bad eating habits before.
